How to naturally support your thyroid
I have been suffering from hypothyroidism since I was 12 years old. The first alert was given by a hairdresser who attended to my family in Cuba, who was struck by the fact that my hair was falling out so much, after an exhaustive examination, the doctor prescribed Levothyroxine, which was very hard for me because of my young age. Two years ago, I also diagnosed my daughter with the same condition. Thyroid disorders is a topic that has always interested me, and since I live in the United States, I have dedicated myself to studying it from another point of view. Can I use natural remedies to make my thyroid work better?, What changes in my diet should I make?, What foods should I avoid?
60% of people who have thyroid disease do not know they have it, with women being eight times more likely than men to acquire it. The thyroid is a gland, in the form of a butterfly, located in the center of the neck, which is responsible for regulating the body's metabolism (temperature, circulating calcium in the blood, heart rate, fats and carbohydrates among others), its good performance is interrelated with all other systems of the body, so if it does not work properly the body will not do it either.
These processes are achieved thanks to an interaction between the hypothalamus, the pituitary gland and the thyroid gland. Hypothalamic thyrotropin-releasing hormone (TRH) stimulates pituitary TSH synthesis and thyrotropin segregation. In turn, it releases T4 and T3 from the thyroid gland. When enough T4 is produced, HRT and TSH receive the signal that there is enough thyroid hormone in circulation and the production process stops. When the gland produces T3 and T4 in excessive amounts, it is called Hyperthyroidism, if these occur in insufficient amounts it is known as Hypothyroidism.
