PRP Therapy

What is platelet-rich plasma (PRP)?
PRP is plasma that is combined with a high concentration of platelets. Platelets contain growth factors and other proteins that allow the growth of new, healthy tissue. Your platelets are an essential component in natural healing processes.
PRP is recommended for:
- joint pain
- wrinkles
- activate hair restoration
- rejuvenate the skin
For joint pain, platelet-rich plasma is injected directly at the joint. This triggers a temporary inflammatory process and stimulates collagen production. It's like if you hit your skin, it usually becomes inflamed, red and hot. The same thing can happen here because we are injecting plasma and it contains growth factors.
PRP for hair restoration
During the treatment to improve hair growth, Dr. Maria Garcia Lahens injects PRP into specific areas of the scalp. Before the injection, local anesthetic is used to block the area where the work will be done. PRP improves blood flow and initiates hair production in the hair follicles.
I like to combine PRP with microneedling and PDO to stimulate the blood flow to the treated area of the scalp to stimulate hair growth in areas where the hair follicle is active.
